Our Program Model

Our Model

518 ElevatED offers personalized, long-term academic support and guidance for students in Albany, Troy, and Schenectady high schools beginning in 10th grade and continuing through college graduation. Our programs are designed to provide students with tools, resources, support, and opportunities to reach their higher education goals. We transform lives by breaking down the barriers that have historically excluded these students from achieving college success.

PATHWAYS TO COLLEGE PROGRAM

Our Pathways to College program builds a solid academic, emotional, and financial foundation by providing activities such as mandatory weekly afterschool sessions with access to tutors and skill-building workshops on a variety of topics; college campus tours; fees covered for college-level courses in high school; SAT fees and prep classes; career awareness activities; assistance with college applications, financial aid forms, and scholarship applications; and one-on-one mentoring.

COLLEGE SUCCESS PROGRAM

Our College Success program continues to support students once they graduate from high school and begin their path to a college degree. Students receive individualized guidance through biannual meetings; help with networking, resume building, and interviewing skills; access to internship opportunities; and a $750 stipend at the end of every semester to pay for books, transportation, or other college-related expenses.

MENTORING PROGRAM

Through our Mentoring Program, each student is matched with a supportive adult who serves as a role model, advocate, and cheerleader. A mentor opens doors to new social, cultural, and educational experiences and provides professional networks for students. Mentors are an integral part of our students’ successes, often increasing their chance of graduating from high school, completing college, and becoming economically self-sufficient.
