Supporting First-Generation Students

Being the first in your family to pursue higher education can be a rewarding and exciting experience.  However, it is also filled with so many unknowns and so much of a financial risk.  Very often, first-generation college students face challenges, related to economic and social factors, all phases of the higher education process from application to graduation. 518 ElevatED works year-round to alleviate barriers and level the playing field.

This November, beginning with our Celebration of First Generation to College Day on November 8 through National Day of Giving on November 28, to celebrate and honor #firstgen students, 518 ElevatED is working to raise $7,000 to take all of the Scholars in our program, from Albany, Schenectady and Troy High Schools on at least 2 college visits this academic year.  The impact of each visit has tremendous power.
